  • October 21 to December 21, 2024 (registration closed November 4th)
  • January 6 to March 15, 2025 (registration now open; closes January 18th)

Whether you’re a child or an adult, we have the perfect pathway to help you get started in hockey:

  1. Start with Learn to SkateIt’s important to master the basics of skating before progressing to hockey. Depending on your age, you’ll enroll in one of the following:
    • Ages 3-5: Hockey Snowplow 1
    • Ages 6-14: Hockey Skating 1 or Basic 1
    • Ages 15 and up: Adult Hockey Skating or Adult 1
  2. Move on to Learn to Play – Once you’ve built a solid foundation in skating, it’s time for the next step:
    • Youth Learn to Play for kids
    • Adult Development Camp for older players age 15+
    • Full hockey gear is required for these classes, where you’ll learn the essentials: skating, stickhandling, shooting, passing, and scrimmaging.
  3. Join a League – After completing Learn to Play, you’re ready to join a development league or one of our recreational (Rec) leagues!

Required Equipment:

  • Learn to Skate: Only a helmet (any type), gloves or mittens, and warm clothing are required.
  • Learn to Play: Full hockey gear is mandatory. This includes a hockey helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, jersey, pants/breezers, shin guards, hockey socks, skates, and a stick. For more details, refer to this helpful Hockey Equipment Guide.

You may make-up one missed class per session. Just email hockey@iceandfield.com when you’ll make the class up. Skaters may also choose to attend make-up classes on regular learn to skate days.
